Minister’s Musing… Well, you may notice that we have a different format for this edition of the Mirror (and will have some differing formats as we experiment) due to a new printer. This new piece of equipment has a smaller master and wants 8.5″Xl1″ masters! Okay, we will cooperate as much as we can, so much for my technical report. May is upon us and a busy month it will be. Mother’s Day, Whitney & Erik’s wedding, a second May wedding, pre-marital counseling, a DHM Board Meeting in Indianapolis, but, thankfully we have Pentecost!!! Imagine coming together and celebrating the birth of the Church. My calendar containsifhese word: “After waiting together in prayerful unity, Jesus’ followers were given the gifts of power by the blessing of the Holy Spirit. Thus the Church began, and thus it continues.” Again much to do! There is no rest, or stopping, in our observation of Christ’s love and God’s unending grace. We have special days, like Pentecost, to remind us and keep us “charged up” for the journey. We have the opportunity, too, to gather around a table and eat the bread and drink the cup as we remember the sacrifice and love shown to all. We can be a people who constantly celebrate the good news of the resurrection as we provide care for our brothers and sisters who have no homes, food, clothing, or are imprisoned. We can care for the children who need tutoring and mentoring to pass the tests and be participants on the important playing field of life. We can pray for all those whose lives were lost at Virginia Tech and hope that it is never repeated. We are God’s children and therefore agents of change, of transformation, and we become a light to the community that surrounds us (as well as in the world in which we live). Let us unceasingly thank God for the gift of the church, each other, our tasks, and especially for our Savior and Lord, Jesus. Blessings to all and I’ll see you in church! Alan |
