Minister’s Musings … As I was looking for an item in my desk I came across an old, yellowed, tattered piece of paper. I believe it is an interesting discovery and wish to share it with you. My Holiday List
1. I will strive to promote peace on earth and good will to all people. 2. I will love all of God’s children, even my enemies, as I love myself. 3. I will strive to gather and distribute clothing to the virtually naked. 4. I will continue in my search to locate housing for my brothers and sister who are homeless. 5. I will participate in finding and giving food to the hungry. 6. I will seek to find work for all people. 7. I will aspire to end injustice wherever it is found. 8. I will show hospitality at all times. 9. I will be there for anyone who needs a friend. 10. I will work to transforming this hurting society. 11. Above all I will be faithful to God’s purpose for my life.
If I can accomplish these things they will be a good beginning in my assisting God in the establishing of God’s eternal reign. Thanks be to God, Jesus of Nazareth Friends, I do not know what your list looks like but I think I need to review my own.
Blessings to you all, Alan Post Section:

Minister’s MusingBorrowing from Paul’s letter to the Church in Rome we find these words in the 12th chapter: “Let love be genuine…hold fast to what is good… love one another with mutual affection … Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints; extend hospitality to strangers. “
In any situation, at any time of one’s lifetime, these are powerful words. They especially impact me (us) at a time when we are celebrating a day called Thanksgiving. How thankful I (we) must be for a God who loves me (us) so much that t am (we are) called to love one another. How thankful I (we) must be for Jesus who showed great courage in suffering, hope in resurrection, and the overwhelming power of prayer. How thankful I am (we) must be for the Holy Spirit’s presence in my (our) life. How else, without the knowledge of thanksgiving, could I (we) make our way through this land of hunger, thirst, abuse, homelessness, imprisonment, warfare, injustice and hopelessness, if not for the amazing power of Jesus Christ to show us the way to make a difference. I (we) can not only be transformed but I (we) can be the agents of transformation.
What truly is meaningful to me is that t can be one who extends hospitality - quietly at times, radically when necessary. We support the Salvation Army’s meal that will serve over 1,000 dinners on Thanksgiving. Our gifts and offering to outreach programs bring water to barren places, food and clothing to the needy, and hope to all. I am (we are) so blessed that the Lord God has chosen us to make a difference. Joyfully Jesus the Christ has empowered us with the understanding and hope to reconcile and transform our sisters and brothers as we usher in God’s reign. And the Holy Spirit continues to work actively among us to provide us with the energy to stay on task. Thanks be to God.
Blessings and Peace, Alan Post Section:
